Who I Am & What I Do
Mar 26th, 2007 by James Hofsiss in Air Force, Religion, Church, Family
Now that I’ve actually started posting I’m getting some visitors. Unfortuantely you don’t know much about who I am or what I do. Let’s fix that.
I am 41 years old. Married for over 20 years to my high school sweetheart and one true love. We have 5 children (2 sets of twins!) so there’s never a dull moment around our place. For the past 19 years I have been serving in the United States Air Force.
I was born in Fort Worth, Texas but am currently staioned at the Pentagon. I work for the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff providing mobile communications support whenever he travels in the States or Overseas. It is great assignment. Last month I went to Hawaii, American Samoa, Australia, Indonesia and Guam.
We worship at Arlington Church of Christ which is just exploding with talented, excited people and tons of potential. Our plan is to retire from the USAF next summer and continue to live and work here in the DC area.
If you want to know more, just ask.

Do you know the Dorans? I know there are tons of people in your area and chances are slim … just kidding. Wayne & Jean, I believe are their first names.
that was supposed to be “just curious,” not “just kidding.” I wish I would check before I hit Submit sometimes!!
And, by the way, it’s good to find out some about you.
Keep up the good work on the blog. Enjoying it!
What are some other places you’ve lived (surely you’ve moved a lot, or is that a generalization)?
What’s life with twins (two sets!!) like? I have a friend with one set, and I’m sure she would fall over dead to hear about life with two sets.
I appreciate the info. I was glad when you popped up on our site the other day. You live a very interesting life. If your job was not exciting enough I am sure adding the sets of twins made that way. Thanks for the info!

Hi - I am Lisa’s sister. I saw your comments on her site & decided to check out your blog. I love the title. I remember my sister introducing me to the Newsboys & their music. The words are so true!
The Doran’s daughter is actually a friend of mine. They go to the Falls Church C of C. I don’t know where he works now, but he is retired Air Force. I don’t know if you have much contact with other churches or not. You may possibly know them.
Lookin’ forward to reading your blog.
Lisa: Do you know the Dorans?
No, but we’ve only lived here since last June and haven’t been to Falls Church CoC. As far as the churches here working together they don’t seem to much but I think it’s more of a logistical thing. The churches here are pretty spread out and with the DC traffic it can take a while to get anywhere. Plus they are all very busy, each with their own projects and ministries.
Lisa: What are some other places you’ve lived (surely you’ve moved a lot, or is that a generalization)?
Believe it or not, in 19 years in the AF I’ve had only 4 assignments. But if you look at my “About Me” page you can see all the places we’ve lived and all the places I’ve visited while in the Air Force.

In short, it is always challenging. They are all completely different personalities and respond differently. Plus the older set is 14 so that’s a whole new set of issues.
Mr. Hofsiss,
Thank you so much for the comment you left on my blog….that really means a lot to me. I love to hear memories about Mom. Thank you.
You like Christian rock? No way. Me too. Although I suppose it’s a little less surprising on my count, hm?
You weren’t in Antic Spring with Mom, were you? That’s the only drama story I remember her telling me…
Hehe. 5 kids…that’s fantastic.
Anyway, thanks a lot. And God bless you.
